Lost in Translation is a weekly “name that tune” series with a twist. Every Monday I’ll present a song lyric which has been run through half a dozen languages before back translation into English. The translation process transmogrifies the lyric into something quite unlike the original and the challenge is for you, Dear Reader, to attempt to decipher the lyric and name the tune. Every weekend I’ll publish a new post with the translated lyric along with the original and a YouTube video timestamped to the start of the lyric.

Due to glitches in the Substack matrix yesterday, we’re a day late with this week’s installment of Lost in Translation. As revealed on Sunday, last week’s song was “Cities in Dust”, from Siouxsie and the Banshees’ seventh studio album, 1986’s Tinderbox.

We’re dancing back into the late 70s this week for a track that was a smash hit globally, topping the charts in six countries and making the top five in a dozen more.

Give us enough strength to hold on till dawn.

There is a fire burning in my heart, I can keep going.

And I shine in the darkness, I warned you.
