Lost in Translation Vol. 2 REVEALED
Lost in Translation is back with the answer to this week's song!
It’s Friday, which means we’re back with the answer to Monday’s Lost in Translation.
The Translated Lyric
Here’s the lyric I provided:
How is my memory?
There was a glint in his eyes
He secretly stole a kiss from me
Take the time to coordinate meetings.
Say it's mine
We learn from understanding each other
Look how much we have grown
The Original Lyric
The original lyric, back translated to English after passing through half a dozen languages is:
How well I remember
The look that was in his eyes
Stealin' kisses from me on the sly
Takin' time to make time
Tellin' me that he's all mine
Learnin' from each other's knowin'
Lookin' to see how much we've grown

The Song
This is a tricky one. Despite knowing the song, I certainly don’t know it well enough to be able to name it from the original lyric. The lines are taken from the vocal bridge between the second and third rendition of “Son of a Preacher Man” by Dusty Springfield from her 1969 album Dusty in Memphis.
And here’s the music video, cued up at the start of this week’s mystery lyric:
Feel free to jump into the comments with your thoughts:
How did you do? Were you close? Or completely stumped?
Did you know this song already?
Would you have been able to name the song from the original lyrics?
We’ll see you again on Monday with a new installment of Lost in Translation. Until then, happy listening!!
Never in a million years would I have gotten this one! Maybe Week 3 will be the charm. lol.
Like Andres, my brain knew that I knew the song lol. I’ve heard it a couple of times recently too - when I watched Pulp Fiction with my kids a few weeks ago, and then at a brewery’s “soulful Sunday” a week or two ago. Love this song!
