Lost in Translation Vol. 7 REVEALED
Lost in Translation is back with the answer to this week's song! For the third week in a row we had a winner!!
It’s Friday Saturday (a little late this week as my wife and I are moving into a new house in the UK), which means we’re back with the answer to Monday’s Lost in Translation.
The Translated Lyric
Here’s the lyric I provided:
Everything I've found so far is satisfying and I'm doing pretty well.
The troubles of love, the uneasiness of the heart.
It's never good if you're afraid of losing.
You're doing this as a joke.
The Original Lyric
And here’s the original lyric as it was before being passed through half a dozen languages:
In between, what I find is pleasing and I'm feeling fine
Love is so confusing, there's no peace of mind
If I fear I'm losing you, it's just no good
You're teasing like you do

The Song
After four weeks with nobody guessing the song, we’ve now had a correct answer for three weeks running. While correlation doesn’t necessarily equal causation, this is also the third consecutive week I’ve provided a hint about the artist. Coincidence!?! Definitely not, as our winner Kevin Alexander (two wins in three weeks!) confirmed that the hints “absolutely helped-specifically that it was a new wave hit both here and in the UK in the late 70s.” I’ll keep providing the hints going forward, but might make them a leeeeetle bit more opaque to ramp up the challenge factor.
For those that didn’t see Kevin’s answer, or weren’t able to guess the song, the lyric comes from Blondie’s smash hit “Heart of Glass” from their third album, 1978’s “Parallel Lines”. Here’s the video of the song, cued up at the start of the lyric:
Feel free to jump into the comments with your thoughts:
How did you do? Were you close? Or completely stumped?
Would you have been able to name the song from the original lyrics?
We’ll see you again on Monday with a new installment of Lost in Translation. Until then, happy listening!!
I think the hints definitely help. There are of course other elements at play, such as how familiar we may be with the song/genre in question, but a few pointers here and there help guide the process. Curious to see how much tougher it gets when you give less straightforward hints.
PS: Hope the move is going well!
