A 1960's "psychedelic cowboy" crooner; an amazing but underappreciated 1980s new wave duo; a pair of genre-juggling acts that straddled the turn of the 21st century. All that and more this week!
Very wise words about love. I celebrate the solid and healthy relationship your wife and you have built. My husband and I have built ours on a very similar foundation: we have a similar outlook on life, complement each other’s differences, share a common horizon, but respect each other’s individualities.
Thanks Andres, It’s such an important part of love to not lose the essence of yourself in it. It was a lesson learned through hard-won experience and lots of heartache, but it’s one that’s served me well and allowed me to build a deep and meaningful relationship with my wife. That individuality and independence piece is just so essential
When I was 16 or 17, I found a copy of The Prophet in our bookcase and was intrigued by the ghostly face on the cover and opened it up. I was fascinated by the breadth & calmness of his words, their beauty, and power. When I moved out, I asked my mom if I could take it with me. It is a book I have returned to repeatedly, and its wise words always remind me of what is truly important.
Damn, "Hybrid Theory" has accompanied me since childhood until this day, and still is one of my all-time favorite albums. It's awesome to see it here on your list. Today's key 🗝️ really resonates with me. This weekend I only celebrated my 5th wedding anniversary with Tom, but in October we will celebrate 15 years of dating. What incredible luck it is to find the complete package in someone! Working together on a relationship while maintaining individuality is something beautiful, but also tedious, sometimes difficult and exhausting, but sooo rewarding. Congrats on your hard work and perseverance! It's really inspiring and heart-warming
Hybrid Theory was such an amazing album when it came out and it’s really stood the test of time, still sounds fantastic.
I’m very blessed to have fallen in love with my best friend, it makes life so much more enjoyable and I’m really looking forward to the next chapter, which starts in a couple weeks, where we won’t can have 100% quality time with each other. Can’t wait!
Enjoy your trip and I hope it has the desired effect. Looking forward to the photos.
‘Behind Blue Eyes’: I’m a massive fan of The Who, but I’m not affronted. Brave cover choice by Limp Bizkit. I mention it because I’m completing a book over the next few weeks, part of which concerns ‘Eyes’.
Lee Hazelwood is so great. I’m not sure how I made it through 30 years of life before hearing his music. He’s an artist I still go back to fairly regularly.
Thanks for the best wishes on the downsizing. It’s been a journey but we’re getting there!

All that hard work has paid off in spades! Happy weekend
