As I write this, I hope the volatile weather of our beloved island is behaving in the south west, because it's certainly not the case in the capital right now!

Thanks for sharing your adventures and the fabulous pictures. Hope the journey goes well!

Lots of new-to-me tracks here, so I'm diving in. Very vinyl-centred, some of them (Nightmares on Wax followed by Nicole Willis and the Soul Investigators). Very cool.

The weather down here is somewhat volatile but very little rain to speak of. Unseasonably cool but I’m fine with that as I’m much happier hiking in cooler weather than hotter. I’m sure the temperatures will rise as time progresses. Those last two tracks are certainly vinyl centered tracks. If you haven’t listened to Nightmares on Wax, you’re in for a treat! Lovely music.

I’m looking forward to reading the new biography of Nick Drake, which will send me back to his music. Thank you for starting the journey.

Thanks Ian, didn’t realize there was a new biography, I’ll keep an eye out for that!

I’m thinking of this one by Richard Morton Jack: https://uk.bookshop.org/a/6309/9781529308105

I'm living vicariously through you on your trek — the picturesque photos certainly help! And a great playlist. Some of my faves here. Especially Neko Case, Nada Surf (thanks for the shout out!), Nina Gordon, and Neil Diamond. I also grew up with a dad who played Neil all the time and The Jazz Singer more than any other album.

I wasn’t familiar with Nicole Willis, so that was a great discovery for me!

Safe and exciting travels!

Thanks as always for reading Steve, and for your comment. As with Nada Surf, I haven’t listened to Neko Case near as much as I should and have very little experience with The New Pornographers

I'm writing this while on a bus pushing up to Cusco, the once capital of the Incan Empire. Having acclimated to the altitude, we too have been doing some hikes as well as many thousands of steps exploring the cities.

Wonderful days ahead and a new chapter for you two, Mark.

I know that area of North, Devon, well. I lived in London for 14 years, and my wife, our young kids, and I spent several family holidays in Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, Staunton, Clovelly, Westward Ho, etc.

Best wishes on your upcoming hike!

Thanks Michael, hope you’re having an amazing time in Peru! My wife and I visited many of the same areas in 2007 and had a fabulous time. That altitude acclimation takes a little getting used to!
