Congrats on finding such a nice sense of peace! Hiking is also a great spiritual guide that I love. In terms of "O" songs, I've always been a big fan of Overkill and One on One. I'd like to throw in a few more titles that have made my various Top Ten lists over the years:

Out of the Game - Rufus Wainwright

Only Love is Real - Carole King

One Way or Another - Blondie

One Thing Leads to Another - The Fixx

On the Nights You Stay Home - Port Cities

On Sunset - Paul Weller

Because this is a potentially lengthy list, I've left off songs that begin with "The" such as The Only Place by Best Coast.

Thanks Dan, hiking is my happy place and hopefully I’ll be back out there again tomorrow after a couple days off.

Thanks for your ‘O’ tracks, some great ones on there! As well as sings I’ve never heard before, will check those out.

I decided to limit the Alphabet Soup series to songs on CDs that I used to physically own back in the day, which has certainly made some weeks harder than others.

I love Carole's "Only Love is Real"!

The injuries suck, man. But I'm really glad you've been able to approach it all with such wisdom. What you say about acceptance and gratitude resonated a lot with me. I find it really hard sometimes to find a balance between letting go and fighting for the outcomes I want. Nobody said it was easy, I guess.

I love that Hall & Oates track, and actually, the whole record. It sounds great on vinyl.

Hope you're recovering well!

Thanks Andres, yeah it does kinda suck. I’ve improved but perhaps not enough even after a scheduled rest day and a massage today. Back on the trail for a tough day tomorrow. We’ll see how it goes. One step at a time.

First, I hope you’re in a little less pain by now! Another great list this week. I think I listened to Louder Than Bombs about a million times while in school, and Omaha is an underrated favorite of that record.

Thanks Kevin, the pain has definitely improved and I’m back out on the trail for a short time today, less than five miles, before a scheduled rest day tomorrow.

Louder Than Bombs was such an integral part of my life in my late teens.

And August and Everything After is still, for me, the best debut album of all time. There’s not a bad track on there

So sorry to hear about your ankle issues. And sorry for laughing when I read about the seagull hahahaha!!!

Oscillate Wildly!! I remember listening to that quite a bit back in the late 80s! I believe that is one of the Smith’s albums I still have in my collection (I used to have the entire catalog from the 80s, but now just a handful).

Overkill is one of my top favorites from Men at Work! Loved that album!!

I’m sitting there writing and I’m like WTAF just happened!! Grateful it wasn’t two feet shorter as it would’ve been my head!

God I lived for The Smiths (and The Cure) back in the late 80s. And Men at Work’s first two albums were both phenomenal. If you ever get a chance to listen to the Brazil ‘96 live album, it’s excellent.

I will check that one out! Yes, The Smiths and The Cure were my absolute favorites, so same here!!

Thankfully the seagull missed your head!! Hahahaha!

Ha - reading about being shat on by a bird helped me visualize you writing this (at a cafe?) I even picture you walking/hiking and writing this all via voice to type. Even though you write about your injuries and hiking limitations, I still picture you doing both hiking and writing simultaneously.

I also have tendinitis, it's in my foot and it gets activated when I don't stretch my calves enough or don't use shoes with orthotics. It's super annoying and I am unable to wear flipflop or most sandals.

Great music list - the only one I was unfamiliar with was Vast. I really liked him, I'll have to check out his albums. I could be wrong, but this might be the first list with no female artists. Unless you consider Yoko Ono as an honorary representative.:)

Good luck with the body and I'll send healing energy so you can complete this adventure!

Funnily enough my writing did somehow feel a little more conversational than usual this week.

The tendinitis is definitely a frustration and hopefully something I’ll be able to get over after a couple days rest (I’ll find out today!)

VAST is excellent, I certainly recommend checking them out. Their first album is quite different than April, the one my track came from.

I think you might be right about all male artists, I think it’s a first. It feels like I have more of a preference for female artists, particularly in the last decade so it’s surprising that my first single gender playlist was male artists.
