That entire Ivy album is a gem and worth a listen.

Some new ones to me on your list. Didn’t know Carly Simon was still making music into the 2000s. I’ve never really listened to TVOTR. Absolutely love that Juice Newton track which was out around the same time as Harden my Heart by Quarterflash which you suggested last week. Both great songs!

Many if not all of these tracks are new to me, so lots to dive into!

I hope your tendonitis eases soon and that you can enjoy the rest of the trail. Rest is so underrated. I also have to force myself to rest from the gym every now and then as I have also suffered from sports-related injuries (e.g. lower quads tendonitis). We learn the hard way sometimes!

Thanks Andres! Hope you enjoy some of them. I’m halfway through the second day of hiking since taking a couple rest days so I’m hopeful it’s another crisis averted. It’s been a hard lesson to learn over the years. If I don’t give myself the self-care, both physically and mentally, my body will force me to eventually.

Love that Ivy is on here! What an underrated record. Garbage's record feels like it gets better with time. Lots of new-to-me stuff on here to sort through, so thank you for that! I'm looking forward to it.

Most importantly, I hope the tendinitis has cooled down a little and that you're enjoying today's hike!

I can’t get enough of that Ivy record, I still play it regularly! If you get a chance to listen to any of the other tunes let me know what you think.

I made it through today’s hike. Something still doesn’t seem quite right with the ankle/tendons but we’ll give it another go tomorrow and see how it is. 14 days of hiking left on this trail, hopefully I can finish it out.

I’m rooting for you!!

Well, I hope your 3 days of rest were exactly what you needed to restore your tendinitis parts to full strength! I also suffer from tendinitis (and other things), so I know how it can be challenging. I look forward to reading about the latest adventures and seeing the photos from the journey!

Regarding the tunes...."Question" was originally by The Old '97s, from my favorite of their albums, 2001s Satellite Rides. I haven't heard the Rhett only version. It's such a sweet song.

I haven't played the list yet, but...

You know all the trip-hop bands; I'm always happy to learn about them in your lists. Never heard of Drystar, but I'm excited to hear them. Love the Garbage and Beck. I can't believe Guero was his highest charting album. It's probably the least memorable album of his to that point for me. (Sadly, since Guero, most of them -- outside of Morning Phase -- are more forgettable).

Lots of stuff I don't know at all: Finger Eleven, Evans Blue, Autour De Lucie. Devendra Banhart is someone I've tried multiple times to get into but have not succeeded. Single songs here and there, and some cool collaborations, and he did something not too long I remember liking (but can't remember what it is).

That's all I got for now! Safe travels!

I’m lying in bed looking out at the pouring rain right now, thinking I’d rather be out there walking in the rain than resting in the room for another day. Hopefully the tendons have calmed down enough to make it possible. For me the frustrating thing about this tendonitis is that, unless I’ve pushed it too hard and it’s really bad, I can’t feel the pain until I’ve been walking for a while. So I’ll find out over the next couple days.

I’d heard of the Old ‘97s but never listened to them before and only in researching this week did I come across the Rhett Miller connection.

I was very deep into trip hop for a while in the late 90s into the early 2000s and Drystar’s first album was excellent.

I’m with you on Guero and much of Beck ‘s catalog since then with the exception of Morning Phase and Modern Guilt. If you get a chance to dig into any of those other artists let me know what you think.

I should tell you, to give you context of my comments I'm about to make, that I have never been a fan of most grunge bands or emo bands. I, of course, love Nirvana, but I see them more as a punk band. So Evans Blue and Finger Eleven, I have to say, were like eleven blue fingernails scratching on a chalkboard. Like Kevin Alexander says: we like what we like. That said, I am a big fan of Siamese Dream, really the only Smashing Pumpkins album (other than Gish) that I like. Yes, that includes Mellon Collie on the thumbs down side....though I do like a couple of songs. The only other artist I didn't know was Autour de Lucie, who I did like quite a bit. I loved the drums forward production and of course the lush French vocals. There you have it!

As you say, you like what you like! Absolutely no judgment here. Glad you enjoyed the Autour de Lucie, the entire album is lovely!

Is Bigbury the beach with the tractor? If so, we spent a summer holiday there when our kids were very young. I definitely remember Salcombe. It was a very nice town, and a lot of rugby boys were out and about. Maybe England had played?

It does have the sea tractor that takes guests over to Burgh Island. The whole stretch of coast between Bigbury and Salcombe was beautiful and Salcombe was a lovely town. Extremely crowded with tourists but all of the towns have been given it’s summer break.

I was not familiar with a lot of these tracks. "Queer" is a notable exception. Decent song but not my favorite by Garbage. What stands out to me here is the Ivy song! Really great production. Here's a few more Q songs I like:

Quiet Evening - Carly Simon

Quartz - TV on the Radio

Que Sera Sera - Pink Martini

Quarter Past Nine - Oscar Lang

Questions 67 & 68 - Chicago

Queen of Hearts - Juice Newton
