I've been a fan of Tori Amos since Little Earthquakes. I still think it's her best album but Under the Pink and From the Choirgirl Hotel are pretty great too. After that her albums are hit and miss. I usually find a couple of gems on each subsequent release though. I'm always hoping to find something that hits the level of those 1990s albums but then her own tastes and my own have probably shifted since then.

Sorry the weather hasn't been cooperating. You did choose England and Ireland though so I imagine you expected a fair bit of rain. I admire your tenacity and ability to go with the flow, even when it can make you feel ungrounded. I'm too much of a homebody to take on something that ambitious. Gorgeous photos too.

Regarding Throwing Muses, I was a bit fan from the start and continue to follow everything Kristen Hersh and Tonya Donnelly do. I can't think of anything they've done that hasn't been stellar.

All things considered, it’s hard to complain about the weather as we’ve been fairly lucky. Monday was supposed to be a non-walking day as we’re transferring to the next town down the coast. Taking the day off yesterday means turning today into a walking day and transferring in the afternoon. So it’s worked out nicely. I’ve learned a lot over the last few months, including the fact that I prefer to have a permanent base. While I’ve proven to myself that I can be a nomad, it’s definitely a little outside my comfort zone.

I haven’t followed Kristin Hersh as much as Tanya Donnelly whose work I’ve really enjoyed with Belly and The Breeders as well as her solo work.

Never thought I'd see anyone else reference Trik Turner! I reference "Friends & Family" in my very first post on this platform:

Loved the Tracy Bonham track, as most did, though I have a soft spot for the follow-up single "The One."

There was a really good run of female-led alt rock in the '90s that got pushed out of the way by the end of the decade, and that's a shame.

That Trik Turner album was pretty decent and had a few memorable songs in Sacrifice, Friends & Family and Father. It’s an album I still go back to occasionally.

For sure, “One” is a great song. I’m surprised Tracy Bonham wasn’t bigger back then

As you know I'm not a big grunge fan but I have a soft spot for "Hunger Strike." I heard the whole story behind it years ago and thought it was great how Eddie got to be part of it. It's sort of a pre-supergroup. Too bad they didn't try and do another album at some point.

One of my favorite podcasts of all time explored this song (and others) in this episode from a few years ago.

I have also been a Tori Amos fan since Little Earthquakes! I was an avid fan and purchased everything up through Scarlet’s Walk in 2002 (though I somehow managed to miss Strange Little Girls in 2001). Unfortunately, my second ex hated Tori Amos, and living in an area where there was only a top 40 and classic rock radio station, I wasn’t really able to follow her after 2002.

But, thank you!! It’s been way too long since I’ve listened to her, and I had to listen to Scarlet’s Walk to be sure that I had purchased that one lol. Next up, revisiting her catalog starting with Little Earthquakes.

Throwing Muses is another all time favorite! I was introduced to them with House Tornado, and then got their first album and was primed with Hunkpapa came out! I think House Tornado and Hunkpapa are my favorites!

Love Tracy Bohnam’s Mother Mother! It’s still on a playlist I play frequently.

Tool’s Sober is so fantastic!!!

Love Third Eye Blind as well!

Hunger Strike is another favorite!

Great stuff on this list! Beautiful photos of your journey!! I can imagine how challenging it must be to be constantly transitioning from place to place!

Glad you liked so much on this week’s playlist Kristin! I’ll have to go back and give Little Earthquakes a listen and I don’t really recall Scarlet’s Walk.

I was listening to Hunkapapa yesterday and enjoying it. Mother Mother is definitely still a jam! And I also liked Navy Bean from that album too.

Being able to see such beautiful scenery every day out on the trail is definitely a payoff for the transient lifestyle but it’ll be nice once we’re settled.
