All that adulting that comes with moving is hard! And a lot!! Give yourself grace for sure! My substack emails are totally overwhelming too 😂 But, I hate the sting that comes everytime someone unsubscribes, so I try not to 🤣 (unless it’s someone with 100% paid content that I won’t be able to read any of).

Man, I knew this song, but my mind wasn’t finding it!

Thanks Kristin! The adulting definitely does seem to slowly wear me down! One thing I learned on our nine months of travel after retiring was this idea of giving myself grace and treating myself with kindness and patience. For most of my life I’ve been my own worst enemy with the self-criticism. It’s an area I’m looking to improve in as I enter a new chapter of my life.

It was tough to unsubscribe but there was stuff (non musical ‘stacks) that I’d just lost interest in and wasn’t really reading anymore. They’re also all pretty much big accounts so I doubt they’ll miss one subscriber.

I hear you on the self- criticism! It took me a long time to learn to give myself some grace.

And yes, those bigger newsletters won’t miss those people who unsubscribe! I definitely need to pare mine down. I mostly also just read the music ones and a couple of the bigger ones.

Way to be, Steve! No way I could've gotten it....now that I know, I figgered I'd never heard a note note of of Talk Talk. Then, when listening, that unforgettable chord sequence announcing the chorus slammed me in the ear, and "Oh, yeah! THAT's Talk Talk?" Anyway, 1984 was my second year in college as a 29-year-old sophomore, so those were the years where I was, basically, pop-dense (not to mention rather slow to matriculate)!

Now, as I'm scrambling to fashion this Tuesday's Tune Tag (with the only other person to like this post at the moment I'm writing this....our friend, and yours, Kristin DeMarr of "All the Things She Said"!), that song is now creating a wonderfully nagging Earworm for Yours Truly (and me, too)!! So, if you'll excuse moi, those Tunes won't Tag themselves!😁👍🎵

Beautiful photos! The UK has such stunning landscapes, yet it’s not always the first place we continental Europeans think of when looking to explore the countryside 😃 Thanks for sharing these amazing views, Mark!

Thanks Pe! The diversity of landscapes in the UK really is quite striking. And given the relatively small size it’s not hard to get to most of these beautiful places.

So good to hear you guys are settling in and that you are establishing some sort of routine! In my experience, Substack inspiration comes in phases, so give yourself time and things will fall into place 😉

I didn’t even know about Talk Talk. I think the main difficulty for me seems to be I’m not familiar with the songs/artists you tend to choose. I could say I need to broaden my horizons but who am I kidding? 🤣 I know I won’t! 😁

This is what I mean when I say more often than not I feel like I don’t belong in the Musicstack! Who are these bands everyone seems to know so well? 🤪

Nice challenge nonetheless!

I wish all the times I said "I totally suck at fill-in-the-blank," I would follow it up with performing decently to quite good at said skill/talent/endeavor. I could pick up stuff really quick when I was younger, but not so much anymore.

My best chance at getting these is with songs from the early-mid '80s, preferably from the new wave, punk and heavy metal genres. So it aligned well.
